Whitewater rafting on the North Yuba River offers crystal clear waters, big rapids, no crowds, and a feeling that you are exactly where you are meant to be. It is what makes the Yuba River one of our favorite places on earth. The morning meet time of 9:00am in Grass Valley, CA allows for a quick check in before you get in the van to embark on the journey of a lifetime. A 45 minute van ride brings you into the North Fork Yuba River ecosystem, where gear is distributed and a safety talk is held.

River flow dictates which of the 36 miles of whitewater we will end up navigating down. Class 4 rapids could include; Two Pair, Shanghai-la, Rams Horn, or Excalibur. Every trip includes a hand prepared lunch from a local Downieville restaurant. The break in the day allows for a pause in the adrenaline rush and an opportunity to get ready and reenergized for the iconic Class V, Maytag Rapid just downstream. Trips conclude typically around 3:00 PM, just in time for a celebratory beverage and review of the days events in the return van ride home.

When rafting on the Yuba River it is considered "rafting wetsuit season".  H2O Adventures provides farmer john style wetsuits, wetsuit socks to go under your shoes, fleece tops, and splash jackets to keep everyone as warm as possible while rafting.  This is all provided for each and every trip at no additional charge, no matter the group size.

The North Yuba River is unique in its accessibility from many areas. Although it feels as if you are in the middle of no where, you are only less then an hour drive around from Lake Tahoe, and less then 2 hours drive from Sacramento. The closest town of Downieville, CA has restaurants and hotels to stay at for those looking to make a weekend trip to go along with rafting on the North Yuba River.

The North Yuba River offers a fun and more challenging set of rapids, as compared to the American River. Rapids on the North Yuba range from Class II to Class IV, with the most popular commercial stretch of river being the “Maytag” Run. This 11 mile stretch offers rapids such as Rams Horn, Two Pair, and of course Maytag. The scenery along the drip is breathtaking. Waterfalls coming in from side creeks, wildflowers all over the hill sides, and oak leafs that are the brightest green you have ever seen.

It's important to note that whitewater rafting on the North Yuba River can be more physically demanding then some other rivers in California. H2O Adventures guides are knowledgeable about the river, its rapids, and the best route to take to avoid any hazards. H2O Adventures will also provide all the necessary safety equipment, such as life jackets and helmets, splash jacks and wet suits to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip.

All all the rafting trip on the North Yuba with H2O Adventures, a full lunch is provided and we ask you to come prepared for a full day of this rafting activity. You are more then welcome to bring a waterproof camera such as a GoPro to capture the memories of this amazing rafting trip.
